Ficus

Most of the people buried in "Ficus", a new pavilion at the Nueva Esperanza cemetery, located on the outskirts of Lima, died from COVID-19. Nueva Esperanza is the second largest in the world and is known for its large influx of people who arrive on the Day of the Dead to eat, dance and drink alcohol with their deceased. This year Nueva Esperanza reopened its doors after being closed to the public on this popular day since the beginning of the pandemic. Families with loved ones buried at Ficus spent the day visiting their graves and remembering how COVID-19 changed their lives forever.
